HT Couplers meet Caltran’s 'Ultimate' authorization requirements.
HT Couplers and Anchor Heads are ICC Approved.
The HT Coupler types and sizes on Caltran’s Authorized Material List are:
- Hy-Ten HT. S (Standard Coupler): with ASTM A706 Bar Sizes # 4 - 14
- Hy-Ten HT. P (Position Coupler): with ASTM A706 Bar Sizes # 5 - 14
- Hy-Ten HT. LT (Position Coupler): with ASTM A706 Bar Sizes # 6 – 14
The following HT Couplers and Anchors meet ICC Type 2 requirements and are approved by the City of Los Angeles:
- Hy-Ten HT. S (Standard Coupler): with ASTM Grade 60 or A706 Bar Sizes # 4 - 14
- Hy-Ten HT. P (Position Coupler): with ASTM Grade 60 or A706 Bar Sizes # 5 - 14
- Hy-Ten HT. LT (Position Coupler): with ASTM Grade 60 or A706 Bar Sizes # 5 – 14
- Hy-Ten HT.A (Anchor): with ASTM A706 Bar Sizes #5 – 14
The HT.S, HT.P & HT.LT Couplers are also approved for Masonry use in addition to Concrete Reinforcing Steel.
The HT. Coupler and Anchor Heads are produced and threaded in a dedicated production facility using CNC lathes. This results in a high quality product with more accurate & consistent threads than can be achieved through the rebar threading required by other systems.
The high quality threads also mean that a torque wrench is not required for on-site installation.
The HT Coupler and Anchor Heads are welded onto the appropriate rebars using the computer controlled HT Friction Welder. This process is much faster than the threading of rebars required by other systems.
The combination of the friction welding process and the high quality machined threads allows the system to achieve bar break and to have substantial advantages in terms of quality, cost & lead time
